Police fined a Thai transwoman 2,000 baht for dancing bare during Wan Lai along Bang Saen Beach Road last week.
Surge of the naked dance was circulated on Thai Twitter and shortly went viral on Sunday, April 16. In the video, the transwoman can be seen dancing on top of an ice bucket, taking off her panties and hanging her tiny bikini top around her waist, exposing her breasts and vagina. The incident has sparked blended reactions from Thai netizens, with some finding it amusing whereas others criticized the transwoman for spoiling the image of Wan Lai, also referred to as the Flowing Day Celebration, and Chon Buri province.
Following an investigation by the Saen Sook Police Station, the transwoman was identified as 28 yr previous Auttawit. She was arrested at her house in Bangkok on Friday, April 21.
Auttawit admitted to her motion. She claimed that she was not drunk but did it impulsively. She knew that her video would go viral as she noticed many individuals recording videos whereas she was dancing.
Officers charged Auttawit with violating Section 388 of the Criminal Law by performing such a disgraceful act in public by undressing, exhibiting an undressed physique or committing some other act of obscenity. The penalty is normally a fine of up to 5,000 baht, but Auttawit was fined 2,000 baht.
The superintendent of the Saen Sook Police Station, Pattana Robroo, warned the residents to not repeat the same errors at the next Songkran Festival and Wan Lai Celebration. He said…
“I want to warn others to not let this action happen in the next Songkran and Wan Lai as a result of this impacts the picture of the Thai individuals and the Thai Songkran Festival. Everyone should maintain a good image of the Thai individuals and the Thai Songkran Festival by doing solely good issues to show to foreigners.”
